[oom] April Fool's Day
Oh, River is not a morning person, but this prank requires some dedication and preparation. She has her sonic screwdriver set to wake her an hour before the alarm, and she'd packed the blanket and the picnic basket the afternoon before while he was out running.
The matter of the prank itself is a simple few moments with the screwdriver on the red setting. Quick. Harmless. And best of all, reversible.
She still expects to get a bit of a hiding for it, but he did throw down the gauntlet. Her cheeks ache from grinning at the very thought of the look on his face when he figures out just what she'd done.
Prank accomplished, she slips into her boots and shushes Damocles, swearing him to silence. Rather, bribing him with future promises of bacon. She leaves the note on the pillow and catches herself just before she kisses him on the cheek. If he wakes, the surprise will be ruined before she can make her escape.
Dear Richard~
Have been kidnapped by rabbits. They said something about their pelts being used for "unseemly" purposes. Their leader says, if you ever want to see me again, come alone.

He can't keep this up much longer.
no subject
My love, my mate.
no subject
He's panting hard as he lowers them both back down to earth.

His hands gently stroke her sides up and down, fingertips simply moving up and down as he catches his breath.
"This what you had in mind for this morning?"
no subject
"Better," she breathes, her voice pitched low. "Much, much, better."
no subject
He ducks his chin down again, not to guard his throat, but to catch her mouth in a long slow kiss.

Until the wind changes and the smell of scorched rabbit tickles her nose.
She groans as she pulls away. "Damn it."
no subject
"I think it's only the one side." He hopes it is.
no subject
That done, she makes her way back to him. "I think you may be right." She returns to the blanket, laying down next to him. She wasn't done with the cuddling part yet.
no subject
"At least there's still the bread and cheese," he sighs, holding his arm out for her to pillow upon.

"It's disappeared since then. I don't know why."
no subject
"What's the Dreaming?"
She insinuates a knee between his, tangling her legs with his, the better to gather his warm before the breeze steals it.
no subject
Not that he's complaining about the cuddling.
"I never went that far, so I'm not quite certain. I know it wasn't safe to sleep out here, then. Things that happened in your dreams happened to you in reality as well. Like if you sliced your hand on a knife, you'd wake up and the cut would still be there."
That wasn't a good morning, no.

Even with the bit of chill on her backside, she loves this, loves the contented look on his face and the feel of his hand on her hip, just holding her.
no subject
He sees the chill on her skin and smiles a bit as he reaches down to throw what blanket he can over their legs. There's leaf litter clinging to the back of the fabric, but that's alright. They're not on that side.
"Though I'm going to want the rest of my breakfast soon," he warns.
no subject
"And then?" More wolf words.
She'll learn his language if it drives them both spare.
no subject
He's grinning. He can eat and teach at the same time for that.
no subject
She has to lean to find the wine bottle and glasses, and she talks as she moves. "Do you remember the first day we met, you told me there was a dragon out here?"
no subject
"Yes?" He's rooting around for the cheese. "I've only seen it." Hah, there we go. He pulls up a slice and starts nomming.
"...apples?"
no subject
She's pouring him another glass of wine and coming back to curl herself around his back, leaning into him to balance them both in the sitting position. She holds her chin up, mouth open for a bite of the cheese.
no subject
He pops the rest of his slice into her mouth.
no subject
She rests her chin on his shoulder while she eats.
